I received a jar of dried harissa as a gift and am looking to make chicken with it. Most of the recipes I'm seeing call for harissa paste rather than dried harissa or yogurt, which I can't use. Any suggestions?
You can make a very simple version of wet harissa by mixing 1/2 cup dry harissa spice mix with 1/2 cup olive oil and 1/2 cup water then blend together in a food processor. Add the water slowly till you get the consistency you like.
The dry harissa can be used as you would any other dry spice mix: adding to marinades, a dry rub, etc.
