Bday dinner with a 4yr old in Montclair - suggestions?
My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and we want to go to dinner to celebrate. We are looking for a place in (or near) Montclair and we will have his 4 year old son with us...any suggestions???

You can get everything from the best burger in NJ to duck and fish entrees at Next Door in Montclair, it's BYO, and there are kids in there all the time if you're going to dinner on the earlier side (which I'm guessing you are).
I agree that Raymond's is also VERY kid-friendly (crayons, iirc!); it's also BYO, and has a very extensive menu (sandwiches and salads to entrees), including kids' stuff.
Ah' Pizz is another good choice; authentic Neapolitan pizza, salads, and THE. BEST. CANNOLI. I've ever had. Bonus: pizzas come out FAST from that oven! Also BYO.
Or you can have excellent authentic Szechuan at Chengdu 1 in Cedar Grove (on the lower level of the shopping center where Kings is) and your bf's son can play with the daughter of the owner...she's about the same age and is always bopping around the restaurant!-----

I agree that Raymonds is good choice.
In Caldwell is Calandras with an Italian Village which is fun. Food is decent but very relaxed and you can walk around and not feel confined.
In Verona, The Avenue Bistro, very relaxed atmosphere and bid enough menue to appease everyone.
I'm not a huge fan but people like Cuban Petes in Montclair.-----
