While Fig's food is amazing, it is certainly not the best happy hour at the end of a work day, since their happy hour is one hour long only, and ends at 6PM. It's actually stressful to try to get there, and get food and drinks in time.

Best happy hour is probably Fraiche. Great menu, good wines on offer. Chaya Venice is another great happy hour, especially because it's all night. Tiato has a fantastic happy hour with really great food, and it's outside. Loews hotel's happy hour goes until 8PM, everything is $6, and the view can't be beat.

Are you going for the food or the booze? I dont drink, so I concentrate on HH food. Fraiche has excellent food for HH. An amazing turkey burger for 6.00. another burger for 6.00, a truffle burger for 8. Pizzas, mussles and salads. Wilshire restaurant also has some great food on their HH menu.

I have been to the Sonoma Wine Garden where I ended up on a Thursday evening. The frites and wine were a good deal.

That sounds good, but short! Santa Monica is pretty big. It may depend somewhat on the part. And do you care more about food or cheap drinks? There is a huge beer for 3 of 4 dollars at Sake House around 4th and (?) Broadway.
