Asian Pearl Peninsula Restaurant OR Hong Kong Flower Lounge OR The Kitchen --for Dim Sum

  • 3

Celebrating my daughter's 25th bday. The happiest place on earth for her is a Dim Sum restaurant--not Dineyland.

Please provide feedback on which restaurant is best to go to (group of 8): and why.

  1. Haven't been to the Kitchen. HKFL is more festive and could give you a semi-private space and special orders. Also they have valet parking and a bigger lot.

BUT I prefer the food at Asian Pearl. Their private areas are dark and not as nice as the main room.

Based on recent visits to Peninsula Asian Pearl and The Kitchen, Asian Pearl has way better food. Even my friends who like going to The Kitchen admitted after our last trip that the dim sum that day was below par.

I haven't been to HKFL in years and haven't heard many kudos for their dim sum recently, but as Windy notes the environment is nicer.

You might also consider Zen Peninsula. I've enjoyed the food there (the kabocha fries are to die for) but the one time we had a reservation for a private group they wanted to seat us behind a curtain in the main room which was less appealing than just being out in the main room so we declined it.

    2. Dittoing above. I think Asian Pearl, HKFL, and Zen Peninsula are similarly high quality, all ahead of the Kitchen, with a slight nod to both Asian Pearl and Zen P over HKFL.

However, HKFL has more festive decor, as Windy says, and HKFL is the only one that will take a reservation for a group for a set time. Unless you plan to arrive at Asian Pearl or ZP when they open, that would decide it for me.
