UWS - New Years Eve & New Years Day - suggestions?

We're staying at the NY Hilton for New Years weekend; attending Met Opera on NYE which ends at about 9pm. Looking for someplace for a nice dinner after the opera - either in the Lincoln Center area or closer to the hotel (54th & 6th). I'm not really looking for a party and realize many/most places will have an inflated prix fixe. I'd prefer an a la carte, regular dinner menu. We are not "foodies" but do know and enjoy very good food - so we're not looking for experimental cuisine but prefer good French or Italian and a good wine list with choices in the $75-$100 range. Is it possible to find such a place on NYE?

We're locals (live on Staten Island) and spend a couple of nights a month up at the Hilton (have a time share) but our "regular" go-to place, Il Corso on 55th is closing their kitchen early so that the staff can bring in NY with their families . Arriving after 9:30 would be cutting it close and I don't want to feel rushed.

I'll also be looking for somewhere for dinner on New Years Day.

So 'hounds, any ideas?

    Years ago I enjoyed Brasserie at 100 E 53rd Street, (212) 751-4840
The room was very festive and the French food was delicious. What I liked then was the menu wasn't outrageously expensive for New Year's Eve.

What's great is that it's only a few blocks away from your hotel on 53rd Steet between Park & Madison Avenue.

As I mentioned, it's been years since I was there so you might want to call them and ask about reservations and what their NYE prices are - prix fixe and a la carte.
