Upperline's Joann Clevenger is a lovely woman
Had to post this. When I called for reservations she picked up the phone and wow is she a really nice lady. She spoke to me for a good five minutes---- asking if I knew were they were locaed, how I found out about the place, etc. When I told her I had done lots of research, read rave reviews, and heard from friends that Upperline was wonderful she was totally flattered! She said she hoped to meet me but may not be in the restaurant that night because she had to attend a convention. Nevertheless, she said she really hopes that Upperline meets all of my expectations.
I have to admit that Upperline was one of the restaurants that I was waffling about. I wasn't sure if I should include it with the changing chef, and the fact that its location is a little far from my hotel. However, after speaking with Joann she totally convinced me that Upperline is a must on this trip. Just the fact that the owner is always in the restaurant, has a true passion for who she is doing, and took the time to personally take time to speak to me meant a lot. Hopefully, the meal matches her superb and friendly attitude. Can't wait!

+1 for Ms. Joanne.
We have only been once, but she amazed us with her kindness and GENUINE interest in who we were, where we were from....and she KNOWS about us Hounds.
We mentioned that we heard about her place from the boards on CH and she had nothing but good...and insightful...thinks to say about CH and the Hounds.
The artwork is amazing. And seeing her cameoed in a Treme season one episode made us wonder why we did not return on our last visit.
Alas, too few vacation meals and too many deserving restaurants.

We haven't been to Upperline in years, but it's one of our favorites and definitely on our list for our next visit to NOLA. It's a special place, and I think in great part because of Ms. Clevenger.
