Myself and party of 7 others went to Seven WIndows in Hamilton last Thursday. The dinner was fabulous... greeted at the door by the owner in fact. The room is very pretty, though the noise from the bar can carry..... once that large group was seated all was fine.
The curried lentil soup with apple was very nice and surprisingly went quite well with the sparkling we started the evening with.
Foie gras was excellent but the serving was a little large since it is so rich. I had bison rare for my main... could have been rarer but, it was great along side the onion tart tatin.
Flour-less chocolate cake was nice, but probably shouldn't have indulged.... not sure if it was made in-house.
Service was very good as far as Im concerned.... which I think where they didn't fare so well on trip advisor.
I recently enjoyed the corn fed chicken breast which came with a generous amount of accompanying vegetables. It was one of those meals that was much better than I had been expecting. In general, I find that they are at their best with their beef dishes and their sauces are extraordinary.
I'm pretty sure that their desserts are made in-house and IMHO rank among the best in the Hamilton area. I highly recommend their light-as-a-cloud pavlova and, when they have it, the frozen grand marnier souffle. I haven't tried the flourless chocolate cake though.
