i just got back from turkey, and one of my favorite things was this spicy tomato/paprika dip. i don't recall seeing it at any turkish falafel joints. would maybe kalustyans sell this in a jar?

I'm not sure of a specialty store in the city that would have the spice, but if you're able to come to NJ there is a huge Turkish population in the Paterson/Clifton and lots of specialty stores there that would most likely have what you're looking for! The Istanbul Food Bazaar in Clifton just got a write up in the paper and it seems like their stock is very authentic.

If Kalustyans doesn't have it, you might have good luck in Queens. I think there are Turkish food markets in Sunnyside and you might also have some success in Astoria. Good luck.

There are two Turkish-owned green grocers on the Upper East Side in the 90s where you can get acili ezme, one on 96th and Lexington and the other on 1st Avenue. The one on 1st Avenue has the better selection of Turkish goods, but unfortunately I can't remember its name (Fresh from the Farmer?) or exact cross streets.
