Looking for private party location in montreal.

Hello,

I am looking for a restaurant to host a private party in Montreal for approx. 50 people. Dinner + Drinks. I found some options, but I can't do anything that has a huge flat rate.

I have contacted some of my favourite restos, but they're out of my budget, so if anyone has any good affordable recommendations, I would be very grateful. Food quality and deliciousness is of importance to me.

Thank you all. Our plans have changed and we've decided to have the event catered instead. Thanks for all the tips! I've checked out all these places and they are all great and we now have a new list of places to try.

How about tacos? The people at Grumman have a nice big loft and a liquor license ( and delicious food!)

you can check out this resto as they accomodate groups on mezzanine, and see Saturday 's edition of Journal de Montreal for glowing review of food, ambiance and service.

but you would need to see if the menu appeals to your group and if restaurant would add other dishes such as fish when group present

Apparently le Pavillon is not too pricey. A friend was there last weekend for a party and said the food was pretty good too. The setting is unbeatable though.

''food was pretty good'' If that's really the case, they should find a way to publicize this, new chef, new menu, anything, because I remember all reviews/comments were pretty bad when it first opened. Because, you are right, it is a gorgeous setting, and one that should really work for a restaurant (except they probably need to separate the restaurant and cafeteria space more).

Exactly, it's a beautiful unique space in a historic architectural building with ample parking... would be nice to see some talented chef take over the kitchen and revamp the concept and give us something other than Plateau-Mile End-Old Montreal dining options. Think Seasons in the Park in VA. If only...

Have you called Light Factory? Burgundy Lion? Commission des Liqueurs? Aziatik?

All are either clubs or restaurants but can host private parties and cater.

No I have not. Thank you for the tips. I am calling everywhere I can think to get the right atmosphere/price. Aziatik is a little too white table cloth for me. It's modern and nice, but not really what we're going for. I've never been to Comission des Liqueurs or Light Factory, so I'll check those out.

I see what you mean. Light Factory might be good. Our workplace hosted their xmas party there (we're a rather small company of 40 something employees). The food was good, they had a open bar. There was a terrace and equipment for a DJ, which we had a colleague fill the role. It was nice, modern but laid back industrial look. I don't know the price though.

I just posted a thread asking about the chalet restaurant at Beaver Lake... I don't know if the food is any good or what the cost would be to rent out the entire dining room (from what I could tell, dinner seems to fall in the $30 avg. range) but would be an amazing location to host a private party for that many people.

I was at beaver lake today and in the chalet snackbar, I picked up a kind of postcard which says ``come celebrate your special events-meeting, wedding, office party, mechoui up to 300 people, cocktail, birthdays.....; group menu available capacity 150 people. I guess you would have to call them if you want info on catering possibilities or inhouse options. I wonder if they would block off the large balcony or atleast part of it for the occasion. I was thinking what a beautiful spot for a reception or party! The number is 514-849-2002 and resto opens on Wed.

Some sporting clubs have banquet halls which can be rented out and catered--you would have to call to check on details. Museums also rent out beautiful rooms eg chateau ramezay but at quite a cost so I guess best bet would be to find a resto at more reasonable rates.

Why don t you give gordonramsay laurier resto a call to check on rates, the upper floor is now open for receptions, the meals in the resto are not expensive and the place still has a buzz about it, but from comments on board you would have to make sure the service part was adequate!

Thank you! I'm going to check all those out.

update - turns out they're not taking any reservations for the Laurier private room yet. They won't have any details until at least mid-October. If we get delayed, I'll check it out again, but we're hoping to do something mid-October to mid-November.

                    Hello,

I'm looking for something laid-back. Nothing too fancy. It's the equivalent of a wedding reception for a couple who is already married and doesn't like to do things traditionally.

We wouldn't mind paying around 40$/person. More if it's really something special.

We were thinking a sit-down meal. Or even something like tapas, or buffet-style would be ok too. We're not into places that seem to stiff or formal. A casual atmosphere that has potential for fun.
