Chron posts local chefs' faves: are any of them your's as well?
The Austin Chronicle posted an article this week asking several local chefs where they ate on their day off. I thought the answers were pretty surprising. Are any of these joints in your current rotation?
I'm not surprised that there's tons of Vietnamese food on the list... I've heard so many chefs describe trips to Vietnam as "life changing" experiences.
Two contrasting ones that jumped out at me were Tyson Cole's pick of the artichokes at Bartlett's (those are AMAZING), and Aaron Franklin picking the burger at Justine's... I usually will eat anything, but that burger had so much gnarly gruyere on it that it smelled like an odd combination of body odor and cat pee to me. Granted, I like generally everything else on their menu... just can't take the Royale with Cheese.
