Mitzi's Sister - new ownership - John Oakes of Harbord House

Nice renovations taking place at Mitzi's sister. Seems the new owner is looking to clean up the place while keeping most of the menu intact.

Oatmeal pancakes and heurvos was as good as always this morning and it was refreshing to see the start to the transformation of the space.

Look forward to seeing how it evolves as long as they continue to execute interesting items with care. Certainly don't want to see cost cutting efforts with the use of frozen matter.

Fingers crossed.

Not sure if this change affects the other two locations but my hunch is no.

  1. Are they maintaining their dedication to live music? I hope so.

    1. He is a new partner in the business, Leslie is still in charge of the kitchen half while John is charge of the front of house. Leslie still is the sole owner of Mitzi's on Saurauren and also on College.

Mitizi's Sister will be changing the name to just "The Sister". The live music committment will scale back somewhat (as it has since the partnership was formed) to basically just the weekends.

Much of the staff has been retained (thank god Tracey is still there!)

      I hope this helps.....

Hard to trust a man who says he is now the new owner cleaning things up (with his chest out to here), when instead he is actually a partner with the original owner. I hope his ego doesn't screw things up. I don't know him beyond that. Hopefully he was just too busy to explain properly...

John is an awesome straight up guy. Must've been a misunderstanding.

He seemed like a nice enough guy the times I have talked to him
