Great hot dog find in South Jersey
The restaurant opened on Route 70 East (in the same plaza as Ace Hardware) several months ago. My boyfriend and I tried it today for lunch and it was great. I had the veggie dog with relish, cheddar and mustard and he had the beef dog with ketchup and cheddar. We kept it basic and both were delicious. The veggie dog was the best I've had and the beef dog looked delicious (and boyfriend said it was). They have a huge menu of toppings as well as quite the variety of hot dog specialties. They also serve Belgian fries which looked and smelled terrific but we did not partake on this trip.
The place was spotless, the service was prompt, efficient, and nice/courteous and the owner walked around to check on everyone. He obviously takes a lot of pride in his establishment. I will be going back to try a beef dog (I have the Chicago Dog in my sights).
Name? , Town?, Website?

I believe the poster is talking about Cool Dog Cafe in Cherry Hill on 70, about a mile from the old Marlton Circle.

The are Sabrett all-beef dogs, according to the order. The Chicago Dog is not listed on the online menu but was on the menu board at Cool Dog. Mmmm... must try.

I hate to be "that guy"....but the Chicago Dog they had on their website looks WEAK! Chicago dogs are served on poppyseed rolls...and are overflowing with toppings. I've been to Chicago...and sadly I haven't found a place in NJ that does them anywhere near as good as Chicago.

Have you tried the New Chicago dog at SONICS?

I'm sorry to say.....while the dogs may taste very good, the pictures themselves make them look very unappetizing to me. On them alone, I would not seek them out if I was searching for a roadside stop in the area. The dogs look dried and shriveled up. The hot dog to bun ratio is also too small.

For two bucks its a good deal I'd say ;-)

T,
maybe I'm missing something, but the dog is $3 for individuals $4.35-4.75 for gourmet dogs.....no? First 3 standard toppings are free, then .39 each for extra and .59+ for premium.
is a gourmet dog different than the individual....or are they one in the same?

Cool Dog......I only replied to the OP and entered this thread after reading ElBombero's take about the website being (WEAK) and taking a look...the position of my post just happened to be under yours, it was not meant to be about Sonic.
I have not yet had Sonic's hot dogs. The closest Sonic to me is on Route 17 near the Meadowlands. If I am that far south, Rutt's is only a few more minutes away and they will get the nod if I am in the mood for a hot dog.
I would agree that two bucks is a good deal for Sonic's hot dog offerrings.....actually though, aren't they priced @ $1.99 ;-)

Rutt's YUM......I love that place!!, after moving south from Newark years ago I can only stop in when I'm in the area and always do...I even have a nice Rutt's Hut T Shirt which every time I wear it so many people will stop me and say " I Love that Place" they have a Hugh following of all the Northerners who migrated South down the shore...anyway I stand corrected on your OP......at least Sonic is trying new things...there is just too many good Hot Dog places out there, find them and enjoy them, I know I do....good luck.
