Bombay Club
I'm meeting a friend for dinner there this week -- I've never been so I'm interested in any and all recommendations -- from what I've read, the green chile chicken and vindaloos are good, but wondering what others think. Thanks for any suggestions.

I went to Bombay Club for Restaurant Week in August and loved my meal. I hadn't been there since the Clinton Administration (when I came to DC for a family vacation and it was the then hottest restaurant in town). The crispy arugula chat for an appetizer was excellent (not quite as good as Rasika's but close). I had the chutney fish which was not at all what I was expecting but still good.
The real winner of the night though was the simple carrot halwa dessert, which was out of this world. Real Indian comfort food!

re: kukubura
I agree, I thought it was one thing that set them apart from Rasika - being able to deliver a spicy dish. And when I ordered our dishes (after telling the server that they should bring it back), I asked for them to make it "very, very spicy - as spicy as the green chile chicken" and it came out rather tame. Maybe they're dumbing down their menu.

They took the green chile chicken off their menu - I don't know why as it was their best item, and actually spicy. Their food is pretty good though, can't recall any specific dishes (other than the now missing green chile chicken), except the spinach (?) appetizer being pretty good.
