Ate there twice so far; each time we had an very good experience. Menu serves up things you'll recognize with theiri own little twist. Twisted kitchen?
My friend had the philly heart attack burger the first time and I had the Hawaiin hot dog and fries. He loved his burger and my hot dog was excellent even with the not so secret "spam" ingredient I'll never stop hearing the end of! "YOU went to a restaurant and ordered something with SPAM?!" Alond with the other ingredients, it was delicious. Get the idea?-twisted.
Went back again 2 weeks later, today, for brunch. Dining partner had the Heartland crepes which he liked a lot. I had the4 Creme Bulee French toast which was equal quality to any fine restuarant. Not overly sweet, light and served with pecans and fresh banana. Beautiful presentation.
Agree with post saying it may be difficult to find. Sign has way too much writing on it and shares post with their neighbor a gun shop, Going north on 309 it is after Produce Junction and before Zotos Diner, on the left Enter from the back. BTW- it has been totally redone since its Mazzeo's days.
HOWEVER, don't pay any attention to the hours that are posted. CALL FIRST. We also went on a Weds evening at 5:30 pm and they were closed although menu says they are open until 8 pm. Discussed thus with owner/waitress today and was told as they "get off the ground they don't like hanging around on slow nights and if there are no customers they leave. They are definitely there later on Friday and Saturday nights."
I question the wisdom of this management decision as a way to grow a business. Would like them to post hours they will actually be there even if it is just for weekend business.
I believe this to be a new little food trasure in the area and hope poor management decisions don't cause it to fail.›2 Replies-
re: rg818
Thanks for the info rg818. Was thinking of taking my friend John there for his birthday. A good while ago I posted a topic on General about restaurants closing early, I was irritated about a place closing fourty minutes early! I've worked at several restaurants in the past and I know how depressing it can be to just sit there with no customers, and I was only an employee.
Are the owners young? A lot of good comments were made on that thread I started with lots of different points of view. That time I got mad we were pretty regular customers and had counted on the eatery being open. Felt like they were punishing the faithful on a whim. They are providing a service, though hardly an essential one. Michael's (ugh) is just down the road. Those brunch dishes sound fantastic!-

My husband works in Line Lexington and brought home sandwiches from the Twisted Kitchen on Friday evening. We got a hot roast beef sandwich and a chicken cutlet sandwich with spinach and provolone. Both were excellent; I particularly enjoyed the horseradish sauce that was served with the roast beef sandwich. The owner has restaurant and catering experience as he used to own the Twisted Gourmet in the Fort Washington industrial park.

Being on 309 I stopped for a quick lunch there last week. From this small sampling I had they seem to be serving what they say they are serving which is " American Road Food" There menu is very large for one cook, a server and one (sort of) helper. Nice people working hard to establish themselves. A mistakes with food to start, some slow service but the food was good enough to fulfill their states objective. They should do well serving the type food they are, in this location at their price point. Set your expectation for American Road Food and you will most likely not be disappointed. Not sure if you will find the food to be "unbelievable" or " phenomenal" ; pretty lofty descriptors.

re: cwdonald
CW, GMC, I had a bowl of Texas Style Chili with Beans and the Pot roast style beef sandwich on white bread( hamburger roll) with fries, which was a special that day. The Chili was served chilly, then zapped. I declined the cheese topper, added some bottled hot stuff and the result was, for my taste, a good bowl of chili with beans and hamburger etc.. The beef sandwich was definitely long roasted beef, as in pot roast. The roll was a better than average hamburger roll and the beef was tasty. Unless one has a idea of where Twisted Kitchen is it could be a bit challenging to find. There is a big banner in front of the building with the entrance around the back. The interior is nicely done with a large counter as in
diner like. They were quite busy when I was there. Again I do think ones satisfaction with
this place will be based on expectations. My guess is this is the right food, in the right place, at the right price. Because Twisted is not on a route normally traveled and because it would not be a dining destination for me, I am not sure there would be a next time. But if in the area and feeling like American Road Food I would have no reason not to stop in again.

No online menu yet, give them time. Theyve only been open about a month. I dont think they have a website yet. They have things like 3-4 different kinds of mac n cheese, open-faced pot roast sandwiches that you can cut with a fork, brisket, salisbury steak, different grilled cheese sandwiches, breakfast hashes with anything you can think of, creme brule french toast, roast pork sandwiches. All of which are phenomenal and thats just what Ive personally tried so far.

Been there almost daily since they opened. Unbelieveable food. You have to be a little patient, they are still finishing stocking the kitchen, so a few items may not be available yet, and they are still working on setting hours, but the food is exceptional, and the service is very friendly.
