First date restaurant dilemma
Hi, I'm in the stage of my life where I'm going on a lot of blind dates. This sounds kinda of crazy, but I was trained to never go on a first date at a place I love in case the date ends badly.
So with this is mind, where you go on a first date in Manhattan (anywhere in the city is fine)? I prefer restaurants where I can hear the other person.

I always start at a relatively cheap - but not TOO cheap - bar. That way after one drink you know if there's any point in continuing on to dinner. If not, you're not stuck for for the length of a meal with someone you're not interested in / isn't interested in you, just waiting for it to end. You can always just beg off, say you've got something to do, pretend you got a call, etc.
And if you do hit it off? Then you can decide together where you'd like to eat.
