Are there any soup dumplings for us non-pork eaters? Long Island preferred, but 5 boroughs will do as well.

Thanks!

I don't think there are any soup dumplings--pork or otherwise--served on LI since Shang Hai Pavilion in Port Washington closed. Anyone have a source? As for non-pork, even the so-called "crab" soup dumplings I've had have been pork with crab...

My wife and I had soup dumplings Saturday afternoon at Joe's Shanghai in Midtown, 24 W 56 Street. They offer both pork and crab varieties. I didn't think they had any pork in the crab dumplings, but it would be best for you to check.

Our preference is for the pork, but I did enjoy the fish flavors of the crab dumplings. The soup flavors are excellent.

They also have locations in Chinatown, 9 Pell St., and in Flushing, Queens, 136-21 37th Avenue.

      Good luck.

A visit to Joe's Shanghai website verifies that no all crabmeat soup dumplings are offered. I believe, that is also true of the Nan Xiang restaurant on Prince St. Sorry to dash your hopes.

Sigh. Too bad. There's a kosher chinese restaurant in MA that has beef dumplings that aren't advertised as soup dumplings, but certainly look/taste that way to me. Was hoping to find something similar here in NYC-metro.
