Does anyone know where to get Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches in the St. Pete Area? Where do you go for the best Vietnamese food?

Depend on what Vietnamese dishes you're looking for: For Pho my first choice is Taste of Saigon on Park Blvd. They also have the best iced coffee with condensed milk. It blows away any I've had had other local Vietnamese restaurants.

If I want Banh Xeo, beef fondue, and a few other dishes I go to Ben Thanh on 62nd Ave.

The only things I normally go to Pho Quyen (Park Blvd) for anymore is Nem Neung and Fresh Spring Rolls (love their peanut sauce).....occasionally for Beef with Lemon Grass.

If I'm looking for a decent cheap Vietnamese (although they're all very reasonably priced) meal I will go to Thang Long on Park Blvd.

I haven't found any places with really good Banh Mi in Pinellas County. There are a few places with some decent sandwiches but nothing really awesome.

Try Thuy Cafe on US 19/34th St. They are across from the Crown Mercedes dealership. There are lots of other Asian businesses in the strip mall too. Personally I find their sandwiches a tad pricey but if you gotta get your fix...

Thuy Cafe has great banh mi, I just had a lemongrass sausage one there yesterday. They also have a bigger variety of boba tea than the other places. The ginger boba tea is a real change from the usual, very strong spicy taste.

I go to Thang Long Vietnamese Food on Park between 49th St and US 19 for chicken soup and a variety of other dishes. Their banh xeo is amazing- sort of a cross between an omelette and a crepe, light and crisp and filled with shrimp and vegetables. I've had it at a few other places and nothing has matched theirs. The owner is very nice; she knows I'm attached to my computer with an umbilical cord, so she always tries to find me a seat near an electric outlet.

Thang Long is one of four Vietnamese restaurants that I frequent in Pinellas County. I haven't tried their Banh Xeo yet. I normally get that dish at Ben Thanh, but I definitely need to try it at Thang Long.......I normally get my Pho at Taste of Saigon, but I occasionally stop by Thang Long if it is late or the wife is jonesing for some roast duck soup.
