Szechuan in Elmhurst?
I'm looking for a good Szechuan dinner in Elmhurst. I know I can get some Szechan influenced dishes at Uncle Zhou's, but I want something more like Chengdu Heaven, Little Pepper, or Mapo Szechuan. That way I don't have to schlep to Flushing after work and can hit Elmhurst on the R train going home.

Sweet Yummy is incredible. But have the real menu, not the lunch specials. That's where they show their stuff..

re: Polecat
our experience of getting delivery twice from yummy house was quite disappointing. while it was better than the standard nyc corner chinese and clearly was authentic sichuan, it just wasn't very good, very tasty, very well prepared. most of the dishes were very oily, the ingredients were kind of low quality and the flavors just weren't there. however, it's usually quite full when we walk by, so perhaps it deserves another chance. but based on our two deliveries, it seemed to provide no real solution to the search for good sichuan outside of flushing. and yes, we ordered dishes that should have done well being delivered (tendons, cold noodles, cumin lamb, dumplings in hot sauce, bean curd, sour cabbage fish soup, and pork with wide noodles.)

Sweet Yummy House on the same block as Uncle Zhou's is a Sichuan restaurant primarily. I've only been there for lunch and have only tried a limited number of dishes but I haven't had anything I didn't like.

re: pynchoff
I went yesterday for the first time and ordered the lunch special take out #18 Shredded Beef with Spicy Pepper which I had for dinner. It was excellent and the portion quite large. A bargain for just $5.50 which includes tax. I plan to return often. The restaurant was very busy with eat in and take out.

re: el jefe
I went to Sweet Yummy House for lunch yesterday. I was unimpressed with the wontons in chilli oil broth. I asked for it "ma la" but there was very little kick to it, and no discernable Szechuan peppercorns. I also had the sauteed broccoli with dried pepper. For a broccoli dish, it was very good. I'm going to give it another chance and order the dan dan noodles.
