There was as awesome soul food cafe with outdoor tables on the pedestrian walkway between the Mission Inn and the convention center - lucky you if it is still there.

Here was an interesting link I found trying to track down the name of that place - not sure it is still there or even as good, but there might be some worthy tries from this list "Riverside's Top 25": http://www.caped.net/documents/doc/Re...

re: glbtrtr
glbtrtr, just to let you know, I tried to click on your link, and I get the message, "Internet has stopped working" and it won't let me see the link.
I believe that soul food restaurant (I used to go there, too) is long gone.
But I hope, and assume, that Mission Inn is on that list.
Ferrett1, Mission Inn is a must. Google "Mission Inn Riverside" and you will get their website - it is fantastic, and a must-see.
Duane's restaurant there is wonderful.
While you're there, don't fail to take a look/tour around the place - so rich in atmosphere and history.
You'll probably fall in love.-

re: aurora50
Try googling "Riverside 25 best restaurants" and see if you can get an independent link because it would be good to get your feedback on this writer's choices. The Mission Inn is a must see - take their tour and poke around all its enticing back corners. Should not be missed. Used to live in this town, but it was a restaurant wasteland then 40 or so years ago.

re: glbtrtr
Sorry glbtrtr, but I've tried googling all different ways, and I cannot get that link. : (
But another great restaurant is Mario's Place (Italian), and it has moved in recent years, to.... right across the street from the Mission Inn, just about where the soul food place was!!! (On Mission Inn Avenue, Ferrett1).-----
