October 2011 Cookbook of the Month Voting
The nomination thread has closed and we have narrowed it down to the books listed below. Now is the time to decide which book/s will be chosen for October. Please remember to VOTE IN ALL CAPS. Voting will close at midnight (eastern time) on Sunday, Sept. 18.
There seem to be four options here. Do only one book, or do a combination of two books. Please make it clear in your voting which way you’d like to go. I realize this makes it a little more complicated but this way we’ll be able to go with what the majority really wants. These books or combinations of these 4 books were by far the most popular.
THE SPLENDID TABLE, by Lynne Rosetto Kasper, done solo or with
ITALIAN COUNTRY TABLE, by Lynne Rosetto Kasper
or
THE NEW SPANISH TABLE, by Anya Von Bremzen, done solo or with
THE FOOD OF SPAIN, by Claudia Roden

re: shorwath
Sick in bed today (dratted back to school with its exposure to new germs). My daughter had it on Thursday/Friday, I came down with it last night. Side benefit: lots of down time to look through my cookbooks!
I was planning on making a rabbit dish (p. 284) out of Splendid Table, but once I came down with this cold, it went into a marinade instead. Will have to save the ST recipe for next month-here is hoping it wins.
Today will be spent reviewing ST in anticipation...

THE SPLENDID TABLE, by Lynne Rosetto Kasper and
ITALIAN COUNTRY TABLE, by Lynne Rosetto KasperI wish we could vote both pairs of books as COTMs - one pair for Oct and one for Nov.!!!
While my desire to cook Spanish food is greater than Italian because I'm less familiar w Spanish, I'm voting Italian as my time will be tight in October and I know Italian cuisine very well so planning/picking/preparing recipes will be much easier. Of course it doesn't hurt that we love Italian food!!!
Regardless of which book(s) win....I can see that the cuisine of October will be very wine-friendly!!
