ISO Kampot Pepper

Being practically a Black Pepper addict (with Kalustyan's Malabar, Tellicherry, Lampong, and Sarawak in the cupboard), I was more than intrigued by the descriptions of Kampot Pepper from Cambodia. It is used in either the fresh green state or dried.

My searching, phoning, and e-mailing have proved "fruitless", so I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it's available in TO or through mail order to Canada.

  1. Bought some when i was in Cambodia about 5 or 6 years ago. I didnt notice anything particularly special about it when I used it on my return.

    That being said, i actually bought it in Kampot province from a local market so not sure if there are significant variations in quality. YMMV

      Thanks Superizzy,

      I'm sure like anything there is a range of qualities, but it seems some think the Kampot Pepper is absolutely the best there is, especially the French (that colonial period and all). Apparently the dried pepper can range in colours (black, very dark red, and white) while the fresh is still green.

      Did you also try the fresh green pepper corns while you were there ?
