moderate, fairly quiet, great food near Melrose Hotel (2430 Pennsylvania Ave)?

Looking for a spot to have dinner with a friend. Something less expensive than the Blue Duck Tavern, but not a college bar either. We're open to almost any cuisine. Walking distance from the hotel is our preference. What's over there that's worth trying?

Ris would be my choice. Their menu is delicious (and changes seasonally) and it's more affordable than Blue Duck Tavern. If the weather is still nice out, you can sit outside. I often times eat in the bar area and receive good service.

BTW, does Chowhound have any kind of neighborhood mapping for posts? I notice next to this thread a map that shows a couple of the places mentioned in the original post. What i really need is to be able to see all the places that posts in this board mention.
