Chicken livers, organic or natural

Folks, my usual supplier of organic chicken livers, Hallelujah Organics, declared bankruptcy Aug 8.

Does anybody know of another supplier in Toronto? I've emailed Beretta, Healthy Butcher, Butcher by Nature, but nada.

Rowe says it doesn't do chicken livers.

Please advise me with your help, many thanks....

    You could call Fresh from the Farm on Donlands just south of O'Connor. They carry lots of natural meat from Mennonite Farms.

      OK, I'm off to Fresh from the Farm this weekend...They've set aside 10 pounds for me, fresh...

        Ok, man, sounds like you're buying chicken livers in bulk. What do you do with them.

        I love chicken livers. What was the price at fresh from the farm?

          $3 a pound. We freeze them in one pound packs and use them over the next few months for pates, chicken livers pan fired, with pasta, etc.

          BTW, Healthy Butcher has some too, frozen, by special order. I did not get a price.

          If you have never been to FFTF before, take a few minutes to check it out. I like the fresh oxtail they sell. You may also like the bacon.

        When you say nada do you mean they replied with a no or no reply at all? I would try phoning all the places you emailed.

          Good point...I meant "no response", which is disappointing since these sites seem to be so well-organized and hip with natural and organic foods.

          I'll give them a follow-up call. And 10 minutes ago I got an email from Butcher by Nature -- no, they don't have any...

            I'm 95% sure Famu at J-Town carries them. They also deep-fry it to sell, so I'm just not sure how much stock they have for uncooked liver.

              I'd give Peter at Sanagan's Meat Locker a call or email. If he doesn't have them on hand, I'm sure he'd be happy to get them for you. Probably for way cheaper than HB.

                I've purchased chicken liver from Cumbrae's in the past. I had to ask the individual helping me got it from the back.
