Recommendation for TO
Hi,
My wife and I will be staying in toronto for a night in december and we're looking for somewhere for a nice meal. We are from the Toronto area but have been living abroad for the last ten years so we're out of the loop, resto-wise.
Can someone please recommend somewhere that's nice, funky and not stuffy. Decent food but not too pricey (under 40 CAD for an entree). Somewhat casual but still romantic.
I hope I am not asking the impossible.
Splendido!

Thanks folks. So far, Woodlot and Beast are looking promising. I haven't been able to find a menu for Woodlot. Any idea where I could get one?
Also, what are Biff's Bistro and Le Select like?

I find Biff's completely unremarkable. Not bad, not great - just very forgettable, really.
Le Select is a much more solid option, IMO. The food and atmosphere much more interesting,

I went to Biff's Bistro during Summerlicious and really enjoyed my meal. (I reviewed it in the Summerlicious 2011 thread.) Earlier reviews on Chowhound indicate it was mediocre at best but more recent reviews indicate it is improving. The new O&B resto Bannock has been receiving positive feedback.
