Birthday Celebration in Florence

Please advise, I'm looking for a memorable evening with great food, service, and a warm atmosphere (even outside perhaps) for a milestone birthday dinner for 8-9 people with a kid as well. I know, a lot of demands.. I am considering Sostanza or Cipolla Rossa, but honestly I have no idea, so any thoughts are appreciated.
Thank you wise chowhounds, I appreciate any suggestions.

Also, perhaps a restaurant close to our hotel on Borgo San Frediano for our first evening. Thank you!

For your birthday Cipolla Rossa would be fun and good, but it's not outside. It's very casual, if that's ok with you. If you want something a bit more upscale, and outside, there is Quattro Leone. It's in one of my favorite tiny piazzas, not far from where you are staying.
For your first night either Antico Restoro di Cambi (I haven't been there for a while, but people love it) or else Il Santo Bevitore.

i was at Antico Restoro di Cambi last November and it was very good, good service and very good food with a great atmosphere - noisy but fun. Price was ok too.

Firenze is a small city. From San Frediano to wherever is close. 8-9 people with a kid... not Sostanza (one of my favorite places in Florence) "a warm atmosphere (even outside perhaps)." No.

Call Vecchia Bettola and arrange to sit outside... but be aware that there is traffic. Simply fantastic meal... the last of the old Florentine trattorie. Hasn't changed in the 29 years we've been going... and the fact that it hasn't changed is all to the good.

Certainly if there is fegato or cervello as among the daily specials. Everything is good, including desserts. However, do not stay for coffee. Have it down the block at the bar.

How about the Antico Ristoro di Cambi.....very close to San Frediano. Good atmosphere and food, traditionally Tuscan and you can sit outside.
