2011 Fall fast food is here - pumpkin lattes, shakes, etc

So far it hasn't been successful.

Starbuck's pumpkin latte

It gets worse and worse every year. Zero pumpkin flavor this year. Zero spice. It is just sickenly sweet,. It was a waste of 300 calories.

McDonald's Harvest shake

To it's credit it doesn't call it pumpkin. They don't have the ingredients on line yet, so can't say what is in it. It is pumpkin orange, but it just tastes of pumpkin pie spice ... and brown sugar ... or molasses. Yes, that's it ... it tastes like HFCS crossed with molasses. Not pleasant. My throat burnt for about 15 minutes after drinking it.

They also have some sort of apple/caramel sundae.

That's all I've tried so far. Who else has tried a fall food menu item?

My partner will be very disappointed to hear about the pumpkin lattes. She lives on them every Fall.

As mentioned, attention must be paid to some of their flavored lattes. I've had more failures than successes over the years with pumpkin. For some reason, the gingerbread always is good, so I have high hopes for that one when it is available near Christmas.

that's interesting about the latte, do you think they changed the recipe for the pumpkin syrup? I have had different lattes there with varying degrees of the requested flavor... I think sometimes the barrista forgets a pump or two maybe? (or puts extra - dunno)
I like 1 pump of pumpkin or gingerbread added to my sugar free vanilla latte.

For fall Starbucks also has a new salted caramel mocha frap, which sounds tasty.

the McD's shake sounds pretty gross.
