Foody's great new spot in Tallahassee

Foody's in the Publix shopping center off Mahan at I-10. Don't think its been there too long, as the space used to be a pizza parlor. The family that runs it has 10 years experience. Have been several times with my lunch group and everything was good.

Plate lunch is only 5.99 plus beverage. I have tried the meatloaf and fried chicken, and the owner says that the baked chicken is best thing on the menu. Lunch includes two vegetables, freshly prepared, and a home made muffin or roll. I have tried the green beans, field peas, rice and broccoli cheesy casserole, the real mashed potatoes, and the special mac and seven types of cheese. The mac and cheese was I thought a little overdone, but others were wonderful. Also tried the Cuban pork and black beans and rice, and it was better than any ethnic restaurant in town.

Have heard the burgers are fantastic. Same dinners are available at night for 8.99 with larger portions, which would be lots of food.

PS-- due to construction, it is difficult to get into the center but it is worth it. Enter at the traffic light.
