Clear Jel for canning?

Hello, does anyone know where I can buy Clear Jel for canning apple pie filling? It is a type of special cornstarch. I have 20+ pouds of apples and want to make pie filling as well as applesauce. I already tried Wal-Mart and Primex. I am in Oreland, Thanks!

  1. Wow, I would have thought Wal Mart! Have you thought about just ordering a pound online from Amazon? I don't know what your time frame is on this project, but it might be easier than traipsing all over the county!

    1. I buy clear jel and clear jel instant in bulk at the Q-Mart in Quakertown - the place is called Korner Kupboard and they have health foods, but they also have bulk baking ingredients, specialty flours, and spices. You can call to check, their # is 215-538-9088, and they are in dept. #430. It is a bit of a drive from Oreland, but might be worth checking out. Good luck! The clear jel instant works without heat, but you have to heat the regular clear jel to get it to thicken. I use instant for pies all the time with good results.
