3 Days in NYC for 40th Birthday Celebration with friends - Need help fine tuning plans

  • 2

Heading to NYC from Rhode Island to celebrate my 40th birthday 9-30-11 to 10-2-11. Planning on celebrating with my 4 favorite things, friends, food, music, and the greatest city in the world NYC!

The whole weekend revolves around a couple of music events. We are all spending a good bit on hotels, concert tickets, drinks and the concerts, etc so we are looking to keep the food affordable (75 per person with drinks per meal).

Here is what I have come up so far. I open interested in opinions on what I already have and alternative suggestions that would make the itinerary even better.

A couple of the friends I am traveling with like food but are not very adventurous. Every place needs to have drinks.

Many of the friends I am meeting up with are joining me at the music events, but other friends might just join the celebration for meals so the reccomendations should be fun places that are not stuffy, and are comfortable to hang out at (they don't rush you out of your table if you are just ordering drinks after a meal)

Here we go:

Friday

Lunch- BaoHaus - for this meal I am really looking for a great pork bun. I have been to Momofuko a number of times and love it. Been to the Fatty Crab and loved the bun there. Looking for something different. Right now the plan is to grab some buns and eat at a nearby bar that allows you to bring in food so I could use a nearby bar reccomendation.

Early Dinner/Drinks/Bar Food- Lan Kai - for this meal looking for a bar with interesting bar food/ bar snacks.

Music - Black Eyed Peas in the park

After music drinks snacks - we are staying in times square (I had points and we are staying at the Distrikt which is very nice). We are open to anything from the field to times square.

Saturday

Lunch- Mollys- I want a place that we can hang out for hours. Has a lot of character (preferably irish) and a great burger

Dinner (Needs to be near Terminal 5) - Ardesia- again open to alternatives

Music - Ben Harper at Terminal 5

After music drinks/snacks - anywhere between terminal 5 and times square - Cheap drinks appreciated (after dropping big bucks at the peas and ben harper)

Sunday-

Jazz Brunch - Jules Bistro - looking for a jazz brunch with good food. Open to alternative reccomendations.

Can wait to see with what you chowhounders come up with.

I can be flexible with that amount. I would say no that is just food and drinks. Tax and tips on top of that
