El Gallo restaurant in ELA

I know there have been many posts in the past about this restaurant that closed a couple or few years ago. Seemed to have a decent following. Well, we passed by there today and saw some men putting a large commercial type refrigerator through the front door. I didn't have time to notice if there were any signs posted but looks like at least some restaurant, presumably El Gallo, will be opening in that location on Caesar Chavez in the near future.

If you're talking about Gallo's Grill, then count me as one who really misses the place! Only went a couple of times before they were closed by a kitchen fire I think.

It's been SUCH a long wait for the make over... last year things looked REALLY promising because they had patched up the exterior and put up fixtures outside including their famous gallo. But the inside was a mess and the parking lot full of construction equipment. Today P. went for a flour tortilla run at La Azteca and was happy to report the inside is ready to go and even has tables!! But the parking lot still likes like a Home Depot Rental yard... :/ Hopefully... hopefully... HOPEFULLY soon!

They closed twice, both reportedly for fires. Can't wait of them to finally reopen if that ever occurs.

Thanks for the rec. I like to go to Tamales Liliana's so maybe I'll check this place out.
