Chopped 24-7 on the food network

what is up with the show Chopped that I feel like it's on TVFN constantly? Is TVFN that short on programming that they have to rehash these shows one after the other after the other for hours on end?

I don't get it!

I had set the DVR to "record this series" for Chopped. When hubby looked at the shows ready to be watched, he asked "why do you have so many of these?" I finally changed the setting to "record new shows only"!

Yeah, I don't get it either. Chopped is ok but I quickly tired of it and hardly ever watch it anymore. It's gotten to the point where there is only a show on TFN every couple of days that I want to watch. I'd really like it if they'd show old Emeril Live or Malto Mario reruns. At least those were interesting.

Plus they're filling in space until all their new shows start up in a couple of weeks, although what we need with yet another sweets/dessert competition show, I don't know. Especially with what appears to be a totally pompous host. But I should hold off on being too critical of him, since, as we know, editors can make just about whatever they want of footage they receive...

It's not just the editing. Ted is acting a role. Can you imagine Mr Rogers saying 'you are chopped'?

Judging by the ad it's Iron Chef for desserts... whether it will be a success or not is yet to be determined, but the attitude in the ad is a deliberate take-off of Iron Chef and his apple.

I like Chopped just fine, but I don't bother to watch repeats - they were rerunning them now because they've finished the season and started Chopped Champions.

It's doing well. Better ratings = More revenue. Reruns = Zero cost. Lower costs = Higher profit.

"It's Chinatown, Jake." It's Scripps. Having worked there, I can tell you: the only thing that matters is today's closing stock price. It's the only philosophy that trickles down from Corporate in Cincinnati to Network HQ in Knoxville to FN in NYC.

plus they are airing a championship set of episodes. That means they need to (or have excuse to) run the episodes in where the contestants won.
