Avatar changed for folks who don't have one?

OK.I know not everyone is a person who selects an avatar for this site. In fact, I am sure great content posters here don't have an avatar. Many sites just give a generic one. As did CH here. The little blue man. It's changed! Why?
What do you think? They want to be more "modern"? less bathroom sign-ish?

That's exactly what brought me to this board about 30 min. ago, and there was nothing about it, so I wandered and read other threads. Come back and find, glory hallelujah, the thread I was looking for previously. So, does anybody know what brought this on? This thing really leaps out. I think I liked the little blue guy better. Maybe it's time to roll my own.

    2. theres also another thread about it already as well

OK, it inspired me to upload my own. Problem solved.

I don't know if it's the case anymore but when we first got avatars, I played around w/ it and then found I couldn't go back to the original. Not a big deal but for those who want to keep their anonymous fork and knife, don't change it.

Though not exactly intuitive, it is possible to return to the default avatar on your profile by selecting "Upload Avatar", then clicking "Upload" without selecting a file.

Hey thanks Engineering! Why the change anyway? Didn't seem like a tweet that was needed, I mean dated thread headers would be really cool to have. Just saying TY.

        1. Seems now to have changed back to little blue man, what up with that ?
