At the risk of stating the obvious, this is back in place as intended. And yes, it is meant as the default avatar going forward, though you can change it to whatever you wish.

re: Engineering
My profile page is again without my saved boards. Just like last time the little knife and fork avatar went up. I never did receive any sort of reply about my suspicion that the two are somehow linked. And now it has happened again. That is a MIGHTY big COINCIDENCE if you ask me.

re: Engineering
"The two are linked only inasmuch as they were bundled in the same batch of changes."
Am I to take that as you all planned to eliminate the saved boards from my profile page and the change "took" as intended? (g) My only "real" comment would be regarding the fact that you already had one real world example of this happening the first time you all changed from blue man to knife and fork. How could it happen again that the saved boards glitch cropped back up, (falling under the "those that fail to learn from history" adage file...)?

re: Servorg
To make a long story short, the first time it happened we reversed all of the updates wholesale, and in the resulting confusion no one thought to remove the profile page change prior to yesterday's release.
Also: though the Engineering team is typically not involved in policy / design decisions, I can at least confirm that this profile page change was recanted and is not meant to go out at all.
Our sincere apologies, and thank you as always for your patience.

re: Engineering
In all seriousness one of the VERY best changes that the "modern" CH site has made is the transparent and almost immediate acknowledgment (and updates) by Engineering of reports of trouble. I know I'm not alone in thanking the powers that be for making that happen and for you and all the other folks in the backroom who clear up the issues that arise. So thanks for all you do... (I now sound like a beer ad I know)

Heheh! To me the red fork and knife looks like the symbols on tourist maps for where to eat. When I see it next to a poster's name, I'm programmed to think I'm looking at the name of a restaurant, not a diner/chowhound.
