Bar for birthday?

Looking for a place to have friends come by and say hello for my birthday...someplace not overly loud.

Two years ago, we did Lei Lounge, which was great.
Last year, was Small Bar, which was fun, but too crowded and loud for anyone to hear anything.

Trying to think of someplace with ample parking, not over-priced, but with fun ambiance.

Thoughts?

  1. How about Stone Brewery, maybe take a tour and then hang out at their bistro for some food and more beer.

    1. What area of SD do you live in?
      When is your bday?

Birthday is 9/11 (I know, insert sigh and gasp here)...Interested in staying in Central SD-- Kensington, North/South Park, Little Italy, Hillcrest, Normal Heights, University Heights, Point Loma, etc.

I read something about the Wine Pub in PL-- Have you heard of it?

          You're a Virgo like me...9/16!

I've done PL dive bar crawls that are super fun, involve a cab and everyone has lots of fun!
First of all, the best dive bar in the world is Pacific Shores in OB and its such a classic that others refer to 'Pac Shores' as the mothership..
You can start there and then either head to Catalina Lounge..another thing of beauty..
Swing down to PL....Captain's Quarters and Club Marina..
You can dine at the Pearl with a swim and some food.

Nunu's in Hillcrest is great and you can mosey down to the Waterfront in Little Italy..

          Have a wonderful birthday sds!

Another thought is expedia has the US Grant Hotel for $189 on 9/11 and you can have all your friends party with you at the hotel and you can dine at the Grant Grill, Jsix or Dobsons for the mussel bisque en croute..hee hee
The hotel is wonderful and if you do stay, tell them it's your bday and they usually upgrade to a suite..bring your own wine/champagne with app's and you'll save a lot of $$ too.

Oh, for nonspecifichigherpower's sake. Talk about spamming the board.

I'm sorry to report that the Captain's Quarters is closed.

We love a good PL bar crawl too. I'd start at Bali Hai, hit Red Sails, the Brig for a fish taco & the Club Marina for semi-live entertainment. Pearl is a nice place to finish the night.

              Happy birthday!

Forgot to mention that Wine Pub has a nice patio with a fire pit. They bring you blankets if you're cold! The food is decent and they have a cupcake with a great cream cheese frosting. Have fun!

        2. Wine Steals in Point Loma would work - fairly priced, ample parking, fun ambiance, and its right around the areas you're thinking of. Starlite would be great but the parking is. . .problematic.
