Muscat and/or Concord grapes?

  • 6

Hiya... Looking for a convenient source for muscat or concord grapes (for snacking, not wine-making). I really like how once you get past the really firm skin, the interior is like a gelatinous sac of nectar -- I reckon it's what Unicorn testicles might taste like, if Unicorns ever revealed themselves... Thanks...

  1. Apkarian Family Farm has Muscats and "Thomacords" (cross between a Thompson and a Concord). I love the Thomacords.

They're at the Saturday Pasadena FM. Not sure whether this is "convenient" as you don't mention your location.

      Thanks! Yes, quite convenient...

        I second this rec.

They actually have two different muscat-type grapes: green seedless Diamond Muscats (absolutely delicious; I ate a big bowl of them last night), and purple/red, seeded Hamburg Muscats.

They sound awesome, will seek them out, along with that japanese concord variety already mentioned. The more wine-like the flavor, the better, says I. Thanks...

      2. there is a japanese vendor at the Studio City Sunday farmer's market that carries the japanese version of concord grapes from around now to October........they are delicious.....very much like the Eastern true concords......

I think you're talking about Kyoho grapes:

I know there's a vendor at the Saturday Pasadena FM and Sunday Hollywood FM that carries these, though the season is very short and it may already be over.
