Rain foiled my plans...alternatives?

  • 8

So I am off this week and the region is flooding. This messes up most of my plans (apologies to people whose homes are flooding). I was taking a day trip to the shore for Mack's Pizza and WHitehouse hoagies, another to Dilly's for burgers - neither of which will work today. Thought of Bell's Corner for Cajun Kate's but it is Thursday so they aren't open. Here's the deal - I am traveling with 2 young dogs, one 9 weeks old so I need to get takeout that I can eat in the car assuming the rain doesn't break. Any ideas?
What hole in the wall would you (and could we today) drive to because you have the day to waste?

I'm a half mile away from John's and go there most Monday holidays when they are open. Would have been a good idea though - their picnic tables are covered with an awning!

    2. I used to take my dog to Webber's drive - in in Pennsauken. I ate in the front seat, and she'd eat in the back. It was her favorite treat. As soon as she spotted the sign, her entire body would start to wag.

      Good luck with the dogs.

Not quite as far as Cajun Kates but in the same neighborhood.. Jimmy John's hot dogs. See a write up on them at hollyeats.com

Dillys is still open .. lines are much shorter! Though the river area is not in great shape. You can get there without going by the river (through Doylestown, over on 263 and down the hill to Dillys).

I knew there was a hot dog place near-ish to there but couldn't remember the name. Maybe another day before I go back to work (Tuesday).
Ended up getting take out from Ekta and brought it home. I don't get Indian food much so it was a good change of pace.
I do want to add that I hadn't really seen much news when I first posted and am a bit sheepish about having posted this at all given the devastation many folks are coping with. Hope all my fellow hounds are keeping dry and safe.

Thanks! I amgoing to have to try Webber's - I've lived in this area most of my life and have never been. Might do that another day this vacation since it looks like it will rain for the foreseeable future

Webber's might be fun in the rain. There's an overhang to keep the cars dry. It's definitely not "gourmet" by any standards - just a kitchy drive-in with orange neon and throwback food (and prices). But it's fun when you want to eat in the car and maybe share a hot dog or a burger with your favorite mutt.

Love Webber's! That was our hang out in high school. I live in PA now, but I am feeling a road trip com in on.
