I am actually tempted to not even write anything about my visit to Ruxbin this weekend, but I found the meal so good I really feel like I have too. Yes, the wait is crazy...we arrived at 510 and they open at 530 to find a good 30 or so people in line already, and yes there isnt really any place to hang out unless you can squeeze into the "waiting" area...but......o my, the food was outstanding. I was at Avenues the night before and honestly was concerned I wouldnt find the meal as good as people have said since the Avenues meal was outstanding, well my meal at Ruxbin was just as impressive. Completely different atmosphere but the food was just as well executed. As i said, we arrived 20 minutes before the place opened and just missed the first seating so had to wait upstairs, which isnt too bad because its byo and they are great about letting you start imbibing if you like. After being seated we started with 3 appetizers...the flatbread, the calamari, and the pork belly salad....all 3 were great, the calamari had some spice to it, almost like it was cooked with siracha. entrees were the halibut and the pork tenderloin. honestly the best piece of pork I have ever had. both were recommended by our server, who was great as well. All in all a great meal. I cant rave enough about the meal here. the caveat is that it is extremely small and you will wait to be seated if this weekend was any indicator. the cost compared to other places in the city make this place a steal and the quality is top notch.
