Dining/can't miss spots in Duluth, MN

Heading to Duluth in two weeks and just wondering if anyone had suggestions for places to eat. We'd be looking for one upscale restaurant and then local treasures. Thanks in advance!

We had dinner tonight at the oddly named but wonderful "At Sarah's Table Chester Creek Cafe". It's definitely a local treasure, and is 'medium' (not up) scale. I love this place for its relaxed atmosphere and commitment to local and organic food.

We had a lovely salad with lemon vinaigrette, perfectly cooked whitefish with wild rice pilaf, and pizza with roasted cauliflower, eggplant, feta, and tomato-raisin sauce. It was awesome, especially the pizza! We also got some bakery items to go, for our breakfast tomorrow.

Before we leave town, we're going to stop at Northern Waters Smokehaus for a salmon sandwich - and will fill our cooler with their amazing bison pastrami. Highly recommended.

I would highly recommend the New Senic Cafe for the upscale restaurant.

        As would I.

If you go there, be sure to go ro Russ Kendall's Smokehouse, just a little further up on Old Highway 61. They have the best smoked whitefish (local) I have ever had.
