first date help needed

Going for a first meeting date (since we met online) Friday night. Shes from the Greektown area and looking for some ideas on where to go. I'm from Etobicoke and want something around the Dowtown Toronto or Greektown area so she doesn't have to travel far. The only idea I have at the moment is Panorama.

If you're interested in going for just a drink(albeit a pretty expensive one) the rooftop bar at the Hyatt is fantastic.

I like Messini's and the price point is good for a first date.

Or if you're willing to spend Panorama bucks (but don't go there please), why not Globe Bistro on the Danforth? Great spot.

Globe has the food, but the closeness of the tables might cramp the conversation. If you're going to try it, either do drinks on the roof to start, or ask for one of the tables that's at the back, raised half a flight.

Otherwise, I would suggest midway, one of the many little bistros around Harbord. 93 Harbord is a nice start, and there are many other places to walk to if you want to go for a drink after dinner.

What about somewhere around the Yorkville area like Ciao

If in Yorkville, Caren's Wine Bar is lovely and you could have a drink and even share a cheese plate or fondue if you want but not feel pressured to have food if you don't hit it off. Ciao is a bit of a scene but sometimes that can be fun too if you are meeting for the first time.

Do you know if caren's takes reservations?

Caren's does take reservations and I highly recommend sitting on the back patio if the weather is nice. It's lovely and romantic and perfect for a date.

Assuming you're going for dinner and not just drinks?

7 Numbers on Danforth. Cheap, funky and they turn the lights down low with lots of candles.
