I'm going to be out of town but if I wasn't I'd be all over this. I've been envious of this lost tradition since reading (NC native) Joseph Mitchell's 1930s New Yorker story about them.

Also, it hasn't come up elsewhere but Farmhand foods' steaks are excellent. We've picked up a few at the Saxapahaw General Store and enjoyed them greatly.
