Early Dinner for 6 people this Friday - Suggestions?

MikeyMadness Sep 6, 2011 09:59 PM

A friend's coming into town and wants to take a group of us out. Last time we went to Sans Menu which fit the bill perfectly. I don't want him to go broke, and he doesn't want some hole in the wall if you get what I mean. I know it's short notice...

Anywhere from downtown to the West Island. I'd rather not cross a bridge if I don't have to. TIA

You might get more responses if you could be a bit more specific about what you're looking for in terms of atmosphere, price range, type of food, location, etc.

Buvette Chez Simone makes for a great 5 a 7 with wine pairings.
Lawrence for a slightly more adventurous palette.
Jolifou is moderately priced, has good service and does a respectable tex-mex.

I've been looking for some Tex-Mex, so I will be giving Jolifou a taste at some point in the near future.

I was thinking Mas Cuisine or L'Inconnu; your suggestions seem pretty good, more places to try out, thanks.

Mas Cuisine is very good, but will not take groups of more than 6 - not sure how many you are. Also, being tiny, it's not easy to get a reservation on short notice for a Friday there. So while it's definitely worth trying, it's probably not the place to try this time.

Thanks Cheryl, been wanting to try it for awhile on a friends recommendation, so this just confirms it, your posts are always highly regarded.

I agree, but I had posted late at night and I was getting tired. I was hoping the Sans Menu restaurant reference was enough.

As it turns out, it looks like Le Gourmand in Pointe-Claire village might be the winner.
