We are headed for a river trip on the Rogue River and provision at the Salem Costco. We will probably stay in Salem. Where should you suggest we go out to eat? Where should we stay overnight?

Venti's on Court Street or the new Venti's Tap-House down on Commercial both have a marvelous range of menu items; not to mention an exceptional number of beers on tap. If you want an excellent meal, order the Tibetan Pork from the menu. If you don't eat pork, ask them to fix you the Tibetan Beef (it's not on the menu, but they'll sure fix it for you).

We tried Christo's on our visit to Salem. The pizza was great and the wine list excellent.

I agree that Christo's has fantastic pizza. I happily drive thirty to forty minutes one way, past at least a dozen other pizza places to get Christo's.

What are you looking for? Crooked House Bistro in West Salem is very, very French and very, very good. Christo's has exceptional pizza. La Capitale is quite good and has a good bar. All three would give you a positive experience.
