A new gelato joint opened on Bloor just east of Dovercourt a couple weeks ago, right by Bakerbots. I've been 3 times already and it's outstanding. The prices are far more affordable than Boreal in Parkdale, and it simply tastes better. $3.50 for a small if I recall, large is $5.30, they don't chinz you on the scoops either. Up there w/ Il Gelatiere in my books.

I've tried 5-6 flavours and they've generally been good to outstanding. Most memorable have been pineapple, pistachio, and one w/ baci in it.

Pistachio that is better than Boreal! I am there! WOW! Find it so hard to believe as I can't imagine what aspect could be improved. : P

I didn't have pistachio at Boreal. I went once and felt that it was overpriced, and the flavours I got weren't so hot either. Not worth a revisit when Artegelato is closer to me, cheaper, and they give me more!

Il Gelatiere's pistachio is awesome, neck and neck w/ artegelato's, these are the top 2 for me.

Banana Chocolate, Salted Caramel and Pistachio are the 3 I have found to be fantastic at Boreal. The chocolate mint is the only other flavour I've tried and I found the mint too dull.

I look forward to heading up to Artegelato! Thanks!

BF got the pistachio (which, I agree, is amazing), lemon and peanut butter and chocolate. That was the surprise winner for me because I usually hate PB & chocolate but this one tasted like freshly roasted peanuts. Awesome. I had cheesecake, amaretto and raspberry, which were all good. The texture of the gelato is lovely and creamy, not as icy as Boreal.

We each got the larger cup (about $4 each) and I was amazed at how much gelato they packed in there! Could have easily got the smaller size.

I was at the Comedy Bar across the street tonight so when I saw this place I recalled this thread and decided to check it out. I remembered that the pistachio was highly recommended so I got that and Bacci together. Unfortunately, I didn't find that the pistachio had much of a flavour at all. Not sure if it was a bad batch or what but it didn't taste like pistachio to me or much of anything for that matter. The portion size was larger than normal for a small and the staff was REALLY friendly/nice. In particular one girl working behind the counter. Very pleasant experience and my friend seemed to enjoy her gelato so if I am in the area again I will give it another go and try some other flavours Wish them luck!

I just read an article about them on Post and found out that Sebastiano, the owner, used to own La Casa del Gelato in Oakville; no wonder the picture looked so familiar! I had been to La Casa a few times with friends and used to love the gelato. Haven't been back since he sold the place though. If anyone has been to both, I would love to know if the gelato seems as good as before.

Ah, I saw this guy at the store yesterday that looked familiar... Maybe he was Sebastiano's partner at La Casa del Gelato (Indian guy.. or at least looked Indian... not sure how to describe him otherwise)......It looked like it could have been the same guy I saw in the Oakville store. I went in once to La Casa del Gelato after it was sold and it seemed to be going downhill. I think they have since improved it again but I haven't gone back in.

Yes! The Indian Guy is Barry, Sebastiano's partner, he too owned the La Casa place in Oakville! This place is great though, tastes as good as at La Casa, so happy they finally got a new place :) love the decor too..
