Are there any disadvantages to buying at a grocery store (Safeway, Superstore, Sobeys, T&T)? Just curious as I have never purchased live lobster before and have always wondered.

I just bought some last week from T&T. They have had them on sale for the last couple of weeks (from Fri-Mon only) for $7.99/lb. The "smaller" ones only, 1-1 &1/2 lbs each, which, in my humble opinion, are the perfect size. They were delicious. I think T & T sells a lot of seafood, so it would be fresh. I don't know about buying them from Safeway or other grocery stores, as I wonder about the possible slow turnover.

I can vouch for Superstore seafood. I've bought oysters, crab, mussels and found it to be very fresh. Plus, the price is right.

I buy live shellfish seafood all the time from T&T, they have a very high turnover so generally you don't have to wonder how long that has been sitting in the store.
