We have friends visiting from New Mexico next Saturday for late breakfast or brunch and would like to have an ocean or marina view. Any suggestions in the Marina Del Rey or Santa Monica area ??

    The Penthouse or The Lobster.

Back at the Beach in Santa Monica is simple, relatively inexpensive beachfront dining. If you are adventurous, you can bike or rollerblade there from one of the bike rental places further down the beach (this wows a certain kind of out of towner.)

Shutters. The casual restaurant down near the sand, Great ambiance, decent food.

Shutters is great fora high end breakfast/brunch. You will feel coddled and it will be memorable. Back on the Beach will be fine--not annoying, overpriced and badly cooked like Paradise Cove--but not an exquisite dining experience, either. I have enjoyed both--they appeal to different temperments.
