Wedding Pit Barbecue?!

I am planning an outdoor wedding for next summer in Southern Rhode Island, and my fiance and I are thinking about hiring a Barbecue master to do the meat. We don't really want the kind of sloppy pulled pork/ribs traditional barbecue, but a Texas style pit where folks can get sliced meat (pork, turkey, etc...) and then decide on whether they want to add BBQ sauce at all. There are a couple of local BBQ joints in Providence where I live, but nothing stellar. Does anyone out there have suggestions??? Thanks!

  1. i would recommend a Memphis wedding, but failing that, i like the BBQ at East Coast Grill, and they have a nice event planner. i wonder if they could do a whole pig for you?

    1. What about BT's in Sturbridge? I think they cater.

        I would second BT. One of the best BBQ joints in New England, and Brian, the owner, is creative as well. Worth checking out.

      2. Blackstrap BBQ in Winthrop has a catering division. I just had the bbq for the first time, and it was EASILY the best I've had in the area (after 2 years of searching).

          Operated by a couple of very successful competition bbq cooks - formerly at the Red Rose in Weymouth. They could definitely provide what you are looking for.
