Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Manhattan

fine dining suggestions

Looking for fine dining recommendations in NYC for upcoming trip. Have been to several places on previous visits. Favorites have been: Cafe des Artistes ( I know it is now closed), River Cafe, Le Cirque, and per se. Where to try next?
Also, always looking for a great after theatre place. Thanks!

  1. A somewhat eclectic mix.

Other places I enjoy that might fit the more classic bend to your list of favorites are The Modern, Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin, and Picholine. Return trips to Per Se are always a treat as well.

Ugh, Daniel. I had my worst dining experience in New York there recently. Can't recommend.

And I've had one of my best dining experiences there recently...

          1. re: Spiritchaser

We've had both superb service and poor service at Daniel. And since others have reported both, it says to me that service there is *very* inconsistent. Definitely not a good thing at a restaurant where one is spending major bucks!

    2. In addition to the other good suggestions (except Daniel where I too had one of my most unpleasant experiences with snooty service), I highly recommend Bouley.

        1. I am not sure if it is open yet, but Le Bernardin is not to miss. You won't be sorry. Also, Gotham Bar and Grill is FABULOUS! Great service, food, and experience. Have fun!
