Have had some great brunches at Park Ave. Autumn http://www.parkavenyc.com/autumn/ Very civilized, great pastries, very nice service and comfortable room.

I have always enjoyed the brunch at Pascalou, on Madison between 92-92. Be sure to request downstairs if you go; upstairs is cramped with a very low ceiling.

We rarely do brunch on the UES. However, our daughter and son-in-law live in that neighborhood, and their favorites are Cafe d'Alsace and Untitled at The Whitney.

I haven't been to Untitled yet, but brunch at Cafe d'Alsace is a crowded, deafeningly loud, slow-service nightmare.

i had brunch at Untitled yesterday and it was absolutely perfect. i love the space, the coffee service (stumptown served in individual carafes), and the relaxed downtown vibe. the roast turkey and avocado sandwich with bibb lettuce and a side of couscous made for a light, but tasty meal. the croque madam was less light, as the ham on top could only be described as a steak. it had to be 3/4 of an inch thick.

So if an uptown restaurant is relaxed and a bit "cool" it has to be called "downtown?" Hey, uptown is a changin' ... we got us a Shake Shack, Fairway, Cascabel, a lot of good little wine bars....the times they are a changin... :-)

my waiter had a nose ring through the septum.

                  Very midtown.
