Forbes Island?

What's the story on Forbes Island? I just heard about it--it sounds like a hoot, but it rings like a tourist trap. Anyone been, and can spread the good word?

Got pretty well trashed on "Check Please" also.

Went there once a few years back. It was gimmicky with the boat ride and the island theme, but the food wasn't as bad as the "Check Please" reviews.

I've been ... no good word to spread here, unless you like overpriced, gimmicky tourists traps.

My 2005 report ... My guess is that this is one of those places that doesn't change .... except for the prices upward.

I was given a very generous gift certificate from my colleagues back east. Haven't had the chance to go yet, but I can report that the island "shuttle" boat is now free.

Business must be bad if they are dropping that fee ... which was pretty stupid.

If they haven't changed too much, it won't kill you, and depending on what your tolerance is of 'fun' gimmicks it could work.

For me I hate that kind of stuff usually. It seems the gimmicky has extended to the menu with "organic Canadian salmon": (34 bucks). I had to Goggle to find just was that was. Obviously not much ... sort of like using 'natural' on products. More on the general board.

If anyone goes there and orders it, for fun ask the staff what that means.

It does get 4 stars on yelp ... but yelp held one of their parties there which seems to have a lot to do with that.

An interesting bit of research you've done! And funny, too, that the salmon appears to be the ONLY thing labeled "organic" on the entire menu.

It's true, I won't die. And my colleagues were genuinely sweet in their thinking about a place for me to go. And, currently being unemployed, a free meal is a free meal!

Yelp Elite Event = bad restaurant (most of the time)
