There is a local restaurant here in Chandler AZ called Pita Heaven that has just opened up and i would recommend giving the new place a try if you are out and have a craving for a Greek Gyro (pita bread in the shape of a taco with various meats and sauces). My mom absolutely loves to try new things and wanted her boys to enjoy it as much as she does so she decided to take me out to Pita Heaven to get a taste of what i was missing.
Right when you walk in you get an instant smell of the beef and lamb meat that they have that I believe is the best thing that you can put into the Gyro. When you walk in you get that amazing smell of the meat cooking and you can hear music that just gives you a more relaxed feeling while you eat and its just a very nice environment. Since its still a newer place there weren't many people and that helped to give the restaurant a nice quiet and calm place to get a bite to eat.
The food is a great introduction to Greek food because to me its an Americanized version of Greek food. The Gyro was an amazing dish. It was fresh pita bread stuffed with their beef and lamb meat that is roasted on a spit that you can see when you walk in. It was served with a side of fries and a soda and to me that was the Americanized part of the meal but it helped to not overwhelm me with the rich taste of the Gyro and its home made Tzatziki sauce. The food is fairly priced and it is big enough to put into their take out box and take home to have as seconds later and it is great a second time too.
Like i said i would recommend this restaurant for many reasons and if you just have a craving for something new try our Pita Heaven.
